DC doesn't have anything on this BBQ. Lord Almighty is their brisket delicious. And their buttermilk pie is to die for. I brought some back with me so my partner (from North Carolina and Oklahoma) could try it and realize that Hill Country BBQ is only pretty good and somehow it all accidentally ended up missing. Not even the sauce was left. Just smells and memories of the best BBQ I've had. Add in the best ice cream in Ohio and you've got it made.
If you're wishy washy on going here do it, I've come in from Alaska, Kentucky, and Virginia for this food. The fact my family lives in the area is an added perk. -

We had a craving for BBQ and drove up to Cockeye from Poland as we had heard such good things about them. It was well worth the 30+ minute trip. We each got a 2 meats/2 sides so we could maximize what we tried. Ended up with pulled pork, brisket, sausage and catfish with mac and cheese, cole slaw, baked beans and corn casserole as sides. Everything was really tasty and some of the better BBQ I have had anywhere and definitely the best in NE Ohio.
The sausage was the best bite of the 4 things we tried with the pulled pork a close second. Our serving of pork was a little small as compared to the other 3 portions and I really wished it had been a tad bit bigger to share. Of the sides, the beans and casserole were the stars, the other two were good but nothing that you could not get elsewhere.
Next visit we want to try the ribs as they looked great! Makes sure to try all the sauces, they were all really yummy! -

Oh Em Gee. I was driving between Cleveland and Youngstown looking for a place to eat when I spy this restaurant with very high ratings on Yelp. Every single one of those 5 star ratings is deserved. Cockeye barbecue is a great place for at least a dozen reasons. Fast service, owner at the counter processing orders, Friendly and helpful staff, efficient food delivery system, the best brisket I've had in a long time, packed house full of happy customers, charming Decor and branding. I know that's only nine reasons, but if I went back again, I'm sure I could find three more. This is worth the hour drive from Cleveland. If you're looking for great BBQ, this is a place to consider. Thanks, Cockeye BB cue for a great meal on the fly.

Carnivore paradise. I had the three bone ribs. Very meaty, glazed in sweet sauce. Corn meal casserole is very good, try it. Jo Jo's were huge, literally a full potato sliced in 4.
Interior is inviting and warm. Order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Counter style with booths (large) and tables. -

Just can't get enough! I have tried almost half the menu now and I must saw that everything is tasty and delicious. My current favorite are the baked beans. I always buy Large and take some home. Don't get me started on their small batch ice cream! Dark Chocolate Blackberry (with real berries). Buttermilk Pie and Butter Pecan are my hubby's favorite flavors. Be sure to try out their homemade blackberry sauce. I'm from TN and this is the best BBQ sauce I have ever eaten. Just can't say enough. Worth the drive and enjoying your ice cream BEFORE your food.
